Nanoparticles-mediated Protein Signal Amplification Technology (NanoPAT) Brings Food Transparency to Consumers

The Current Challenges
  • Food allergies affect 250 millions globally, with significant cases requiring emergency care.
  • Current practice of relying solely on food labels for allergen avoidance may not be fully accurate or complete, as issues including cross-contamination, hidden ingredients, changes in formulations, lack of standardisation across countries, and non-packaged foods pose obstacles to current regulatory measures.
  • Laboratory testing methods are also not able to meet consumers' daily needs.
  • There is an urgent need for effective solutions to allergy sufferers.
Our Innovation and Breakthrough
  • Our innovative technology “Nanoparticles-mediated Protein signal Amplification Technology (NanoPAT)” revolutionises the way proteins are detected.
  • By combining our patented nanomaterials and other unique techniques, the technology can amplify protein detection sensitivity by over 1000 times.
  • The high detection sensitivity enables the precise measurement of specific protein levels in food to detect food allergen or genetically modified food ingredients.
  • Accompanied by a semi-quantitative measurement system, testing results can be easily interpreted by visual inspection.
  • A personalized, portable, reliable, and user-friendly rapid testing device can be developed for even non-professionals to detect specific ingredients in their food.
