Professor Alexander Wai, HKBU President and Vice-Chancellor, and the University management received a delegation of Shenzhen Pingshan District officials on 17 March. The delegation was led by Mr Yuan Huyong, Member of the Standing Committee and Standing Deputy District Mayor, and included leaders from the Development and Reform Bureau, the Science and Technology Innovation Bureau, the Industry and Information Technology Bureau, the Investment Promotion and Service Bureau, and the Health Bureau. HKBU Interim Chief Innovation Officer Professor Terence Lau, Associate Dean of Science (Transdisciplinary Development) Professor Chris KC Wong, Professor of School of Chinese Medicine - Teaching and Research Division Professor Simon Han, Director of Mainland Development Office Ms Jenny Li and Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of ITPR Mr Tobby Fu have also joined the occasion.
During the meeting, the delegation gained an understanding of the University’s latest development from the HKBU’s representatives, and shared with them the planning and future development of Pingshan. The two sides also explored the possibility of research collaboration, Chinese medicine development towards its authentication and standardisation. Accompanied by Professor Terence Lau, the delegation visited the University’s Visualisation Research Centre to experience the world’s first 360-degree immersive LED Visualisation Cinema and the 180-degree iDome Cinema, as well as the University's Chinese Medicine laboratories to learn more about its traditional-Chinese-medicine-based drug discovery projects.
