To strengthen the collaboration with Europe in the area of life science technological innovation and technology transfer, ITPR recently coordinated a delegation to join The Hong Kong Trade Development Council’s signature campaign “Think Business, Think Hong Kong - healthcare mission to Paris and Berlin” from 18 to 22 September. The HKBU delegation visited Paris and Berlin to exchange ideas, showcase our university's innovations, and connect with top-notch organisations.
Led by Professor Terence Lau, Interim Chief Innovation Officer, our team members included Mr Tobby Fu, Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of ITPR; Ms Nelly Lam, Assistant Director (Strategic Alliance and Promotion) of ITPR; Professor Hongjie Zhang, Director and Professor, Teaching and Research Division of School of Chinese Medicine; and representatives of HKBU startup Gihon Biotech Limited.
During this 4-day mission, the delegation engaged in fruitful discussions at the “Think Business Think Hong Kong” symposium at Carrousel du Louvre, Paris. The event gathered industry experts and leaders in the fields to explore Hong Kong's role as an Asian market gateway in the areas of “Sustainability & Creativity”, “Innovation for the Future” and “Go-to-market Strategies”. On this occasion, Mr Chan Mo-po, Paul, Financial Secretary of the Government of the HKSAR and Dr Peter K N Lam, Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, delivered opening remarks and welcome remarks respectively. We have also presented HKBU startup Gihon Biotech Limited to the business community in France at the InnoVenture Salon.
The delegation toured leading bio/biotechnology, healthcare, innovation, science, and technology clusters in the two cities. They met with representatives from Spartners by Servier and BioLabs, Institut Polytechnique de Paris, Choose Paris Region, The Paris-Saclay science and technology, Genopole, PariSanté Campus, Imagine Institute of Genetic Diseases, Vision Health Pioneers Incubator and BiotechPark Berlin-Buch, the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises and AsiaBerlin and Spectaris. They also get connected with professionals, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders across Germany’s health sector.
The delegation's visit was a successful endeavor, with fruitful discussions, exchange of ideas, and connections made, paving the way for future collaborations in innovation and technology transfer in the field of life sciences.
