An experience sharing session titled “RAISe+ Scheme Sharing Session of Success Cases,” organised by the Institute for Innovation, Translation and Policy Research (ITPR), was held on June 18, 2024. During the event, two successful translational research project cases that had recently received funding from the HK Government's RAISe+ Scheme were shared with participants, with the aim of providing valuable insights and guidance to help participants better prepare for future rounds of Scheme applications.
Mr Raymond Chan, Assistant Director (Entrepreneurship) of ITPR, gave an overview of the RAISe+ Scheme to the participants. Professor Terence Lau, Interim Chief Innovation Officer of HKBU, shared his successful story in developing a fully automated multiplexing molecular detection platform for disease diagnosis. He also highlighted points to note for funding applications and potential difficulties, including managing investor and industry partner engagement.
Professor Bian Zhaoxiang, Associate Vice-President (Clinical Chinese Medicine) and Director of the Centre for Chinese Herbal Medicine Drug Development, also offered his insights on crafting effective funding proposals specifically in the aspects of commercialisation plan, financial & budget allocation, and record tracking. His awarded research project is about a new Chinese herbal medicine for treating functional constipation in the elderly. The session concluded with a lively Q&A with engaging dialogue.
ITPR is committed to empowering HKBU’s researchers to bring their ideas to life and scale the impact of their work. We facilitate collaborations and partnerships, as well as preparing potential projects for various opportunities.
