Four representatives from Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) participated in the "2024 Beijing Tour for Hong Kong Talents" for knowledge and talent exchange in Beijing in late August. During the tour, they visited tech parks and research institutions, sharing the University’s latest innovation development with professionals from various sectors.
The HKBU delegation included Mr Tobby Fu, Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at ITPR; Dr Zhao Jun, Associate Professor at Department of Biology; Dr Ren Kangning , Associate Professor at Department of Chemistry; and Dr Wan Renjie, Assistant Professor at Department of Computer Science. They visited several key science and technology infrastructure and areas, including Zhongguancun Life Science Park and Future Science City, ITEC Industrial Park, Hydrogen Industrial Park and Beijing High-level Automated Driving Demonstration Area, where they understood their latest developments and exchanged views on technology applications. The delegation also participated in “HICOOL 2024 Global Entrepreneurship Summit and Competition” and the “2024 Beijing Overseas Chinese Talents Conference for Development”.
Mr Tobby Fu presented the University’s latest innovation and technology developments to leading sci-tech innovators. He also shared his views on promoting research collaborations between Xiong’an and Hong Kong. He suggested that the Xiong’an Government can support exchange programmes for doctoral and postdoctoral students to spend 3-6 months at Hong Kong Baptist University, thereby strengthening academic ties and exploring collaborative projects in both regions.
Dr Zhao Jun and Dr Ren Kangning shared their projects on green hydrogen production from wastes and antimicrobial susceptibility testing technology, respectively. Their work sparked significant interest among attendees, paving the way for potential collaborations and discussions.
The "2024 Beijing Tour for Hong Kong Talents" was co-organised by the Hong Kong Alumni Association of Beijing Universities (HKAABJU) and the Beijing Overseas Talents Center (BOTC), with more than 30 talents from various tertiary institutions in Hong Kong taking part.
