HKBU Engages LegCo Members in Innovative Dialogue

Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) had the distinct honor of hosting Legislative Council Members on campus yesterday. Prof. Alexander Wai, HKBU President, warmly received Hon Tony Tse Wai-chuen, Hon. Carmen Kan Wai-mun, Hon. Chan Pui-leung, and Hon. Duncan Chiu, along with Interim Chief Innovation Officer Prof. Terence Lau.

During their visit, the members explored several cutting-edge facilities at the HKBU campus, including the Visualization Research Centre (VRC), where they were received by Prof. Jeffrey Shaw, Director of VRC and Chair Professor at Academy of Visual Art; the Motion Capture and Visualization Laboratory (BU-MCV), hosted by Dr Chen Jie, Associate Director of BU-MCV and Assistant Professor at Department of Computer Science ; and the Life Science Imaging Centre (LSIC), welcomed by Dr. Yu Rongjun, Associate Director of LSIC and Associate Professor at Department of Management, Marketing, and Information Systems. These interactions provided the LegCo members with valuable insights into the innovative work being conducted at each facility.

Prof. Terence Lau also presented HKBU’s strengths in transdisciplinary research and the university’s commitment to driving knowledge transfer for applications that benefit society.

The visit fostered meaningful discussions between the LegCo members and HKBU management, enhancing mutual understanding and underscoring the importance of academic research in promoting societal progress and innovation.
