Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) representatives were honored to participate as panelists in the session “Healing Women with TCM Wisdom” at “Women's Health in Focus: A Global Summit” on 17 June. As part of this transformative summit on women's health, the dynamic session unveiled the enduring wisdom and modern relevance of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in advancing women’s health.
Professor Zhang Shiping, Associate Professor, Teaching and Research Division, School of Chinese Medicine, shared his expert insights into modern reproductive healthcare, addressing fertility and menopause, and integrating AI technology with ancient wisdom for precision TCM. He concluded that TCM offers a holistic framework acknowledging the profound interconnection between physiological rhythms, emotional balance, and cosmic patterns, enabling personalised and context-aware care for women.
The insightful discussion was enriched by the sharing by Ms Nelly Lam, Assistant Director (Strategic Alliance and Promotion) of ITPR, who covered TCM modernisation and internationalisation, highlighting how HKBU’s knowledge transfer ecosystem elevates TCM into mainstream healthcare and benefits women through its translational research infrastructure and collaborative platforms. She explained that Hong Kong, with its traditional advantages and emerging opportunities, is uniquely positioned and poised to become a global hub for modernising and internationalising TCM.
With the long heritage of TCM and unwavering commitment, HKBU will continue to drive the advancement of TCM in Hong Kong and the global community through academic excellence and technology translation.
