23 Jun, 2025

Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) and its longtime strategic partner, venture capital leader Gobi Partners, share a fundamental conviction: social entrepreneurship is a powerful engine for positive societal change and innovation. This shared vision took centre stage during the compelling talk, " Gobi Venture on Social Innovation at HKBU’s Entrepreneurship Talk" hosted at HKBU’s TriAngle on 20 June.

The dynamic format of the event unlocked invaluable insights and mentorship opportunities for the University's aspiring young social entrepreneurs, while powerfully demonstrating the vital synergy between academic excellence and real-world impact investment in cultivating tomorrow's changemakers. With attendees including students, faculty members, and emerging social entrepreneurs, the session explored practical pathways for leveraging business as a catalyst for social progress.

Mr Raymond Chan, Assistant Director (Entrepreneurship) of ITPR, and Mr Fred Li, Managing Director of Gobi Partners, opened the event by emphasising how this partnership embodies HKBU’s commitment to integrate social responsibility into business education. Mr Li shared critical insights on impact measurement and attracting conscious capital, highlighting high-potential innovation sectors. Attendees gained firsthand perspectives from HKBU spin-offs MetaGreenX and ReCube during a live pitching session on balancing profit with purpose. Practical discussions centred on identifying urgent social problems, shaping sustainable business models, and navigating impact funding – directly aligning with HKBU's experiential learning philosophy. The session concluded with dynamic networking, connecting HKBU’s talented students and faculty with impact investment leaders. This exchange reinforced our leadership in social innovation education and the critical role of partnerships like HKBU and Gobi in driving social innovation and building Hong Kong’s entrepreneurial ecosystem for the greater good.

At HKBU, we cultivate and champion creativity, innovation, and societal responsibility, fostering entrepreneurial mindsets dedicated to creating sustainable community value.
