Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), as an affiliated university of the Biennale Sessions at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition, successfully hosted the HKBU Education Session titled "Pioneering Art Tech: New Frontiers in Interdisciplinary Education and Media Production" on 19 July at the Sale d’Armi D, Arsenale in Venice.

The event delivered valuable insights from HKBU's esteemed scholars on artificial intelligence (AI) technology, innovative perspectives at the intersection of arts, technology, and education, and opportunities to network with creative minds. It attracted leaders from international arts organisations, performing arts institutions, academia, and the creative industries.

Professor Shin Dong Kim, Director of the Academy of Film (AF), kicked off the session by sharing on the “Changing Landscape of Media Production in the Time of AI Technology”, shedding light on how AI is transforming global media production and industries. He also explained how AF has been preparing future filmmakers for challenges and opportunities ahead.

Professor Andreas Kratky, Director of the Academy of Visual Arts (AVA), showcased HKBU’s achievements in art tech research and interdisciplinary education as well as the cutting-edge research facilities in his sharing titled “Merging Tradition and Future: Interdisciplinary Research and Education in Art and Technology”. He highlighted how AVA’s innovative programmes are shaping the next generation of creative leaders.

The session not only showcased HKBU’s pioneering art tech research and interdisciplinary programmes, but also facilitated meaningful exchanges between global creative sector leaders and HKBU members led by Professor Terence Lau, Interim Chief Innovation Officer.
