ITPR hosts sharing session on ‘Funding Your Innovation: Navigating the ITSP Application Process’

23 October 2025

The Institute for Innovation, Translation and Policy Research (ITPR) at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) organised a sharing session on 10 October 2025 titled ‘Funding Your Innovation: Navigating the ITSP Application Process’. The session introduced the Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF) offered by the Innovation and Technology Commission, and provided participants with practical insights on crafting competitive proposals.

During the session, Professor Terence Lau, Interim Chief Innovation Officer of HKBU, and Dr Ken Yeung, Director of Technology Translation at ITPR, shared practical advice and key strategies for developing strong applications. Their insights helped researchers navigate the application process, including industrial sponsorships, and avoid pitfalls.

Dr Calford Chan, Assistant Project Manager of ITPR, provided an in-depth overview of the ITF landscape and guided participants through key stages of the application process. He addressed common challenges including timelines, budgeting, deliverables and intellectual property management. The unit also provides guidance on stakeholder engagement and strategy formulation.

ITPR continues to empower researchers to bring their ideas to fruition and maximise the societal impact of their work. Researchers are encouraged to contact ITPR for guidance in identifying suitable funding opportunities and advancing their research outputs towards real-world application.
