HKBU receives Guangdong delegation for innovation and technology translation exchange

Prof. Terence Lau, Interim Chief Innovation Officer of HKBU, and representatives from the Institute for Innovation, Translation and Policy Research (ITPR) received delegates from the Guangdong Science and Technology Cooperation Center and the Zhuhai Science and Technology Innovation Bureau on 15 November. Both parties discussed the latest development in technology transfer, talent cultivation and collaborative projects in the regions. They also discussed their progress in the areas of resources, collaborative innovation and technological cooperation.
During the meeting, Prof. Terence Lau introduced the University’s mission, education uniqueness and research achievements. Mr Tobby Fu, Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of ITPR, provided an overview of HKBU's innovation translation in areas such as art technology, Chinese medicine, food safety, and life sciences. He added that the University’s “One University, Two Campuses” strategy with the Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College in Zhuhai has provided additional room for teaching and research facilities. He looks forward to more cooperation with relevant units in the future.
Ms Wu Yangmei, Section Chief of the Communication and Cooperation Section of the Zhuhai Science and Technology Innovation Bureau, expressed her appreciation and recognition for HKBU's remarkable efforts in technology innovation and translation, and hopes for strengthened collaboration with HKBU. To further enhance strategic partnership, the Zhuhai Science and Technology Innovation Bureau invited HKBU to embark on knowledge transfer projects in Zhuhai, aiming to convert more innovations to applications by leveraging the resources of Macao-Zhuhai Industry-Academia-Research Alliance.
ITPR is committed to driving the translation and application of HKBU’s research. The meeting has fostered a deeper understanding of technology transfer and translation in the regions, laying the foundation for future collaboration.
