HKBU delegates participate in 47th Codex Alimentarius Commission Session for food safety discussions

Officiated by the World Health Organization (WHO), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and World Trade Organization (WTO), the week-long 47th session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC47) commenced on 25 Nov 2024 in Geneva, Switzerland. Prof. Terence Lau, Interim Chief Innovation Officer of #HKBU and Chairman of Food Safety Consortium (FSC), along with Ms Nelly Lam, Assistant Director (Strategic Alliance and Promotion) of ITPR, joined experts from around the globe for discussion on food safety and quality. 

HKBU is committed to driving innovation in food safety and food science to benefit society, with FSC serving as its vehicle for knowledge transfer in the field. As the first NGO Codex observer from Hong Kong and Greater China (as of 2023), FSC fosters collaboration and technological advancements aimed at enhancing global food safety standards and practices.

The Codex Alimentarius Commission advocates for a holistic and evidence-based approach to advancing food safety and public health. It promotes fair trade, on-going global dialogues, consensus building, and partnerships to ensure sustainable global agrifood systems while addressing complex emerging food challenges and opportunities.
